There are travelers who are very careful when they pack. They have a checklist and every piece of clothing they have is neatly rolled in Marie Kondo style. Others are the complete opposite. They usually wait until they only have a few hours before departure to pack. They end up throwing anything they could use into the bag. No matter what kind of traveler you are, you could still bump into clothing mishaps on the road. And because you're far from home, you can only depend on what you have inside your bag. So what do you if you get a scuff or a stain while you're on your annual Jewish cruises? Here are 3 quick fixes to some of the most common dress-up mess-ups.
1. The Zipper Jam Getting your zipper stuck can be annoying and trying to hide it can only make you anxious. You'll spend the entire day trying to act like nothing's wrong and asking yourself if they can see it or not. The solution is simple—rub a small piece of soap along the teeth of the zipper. Slowly, pull it free until it works again. The best kind of soap for the job is the bar soap kind. Liquid soaps may work, but not as well as bars could. Just remember to put in a tiny amount, you don't want to stain this already-problematic area. 2. The Classic Shoe Scuff Isn't it weird that these things happen especially when you need to avoid them? The scuff mark on the shoe is a frequent grooming and clothing problem on the road. Thankfully, the solution is easy. Just use a napkin or a towel to buff the scuff out. The idea is to spread the shoe polish on the scuff. Cruise staff are usually on stand by for these kinds of problems, ready with a shoe buff kit. But in the extremely rare case that they're too busy, you know what to do. If you really can't get the scuff out, just spend the day looking people you talk to in the eye. When others are busy keeping up with the attention you're giving them, they'll most likely reciprocate and have less focus on your shoe and whatever scuffs it may have. 3. Your Sweater's Fuzz Ball Barrage Some sweaters naturally pill over time. But it is annoying to see fuzzballs pilling all over your sweater. It makes you look like a furry animal and not the cute fairy tale kind. What you can do to get around this is to run a disposable razor all over it. It may take some time, but hey, you're on the road. No one expects you to bring your entire wardrobe. If looking your best is a priority when you're away joining one of those kosher Europe tours, pack your best clothes. Perhaps part of the preparation is to check whether your clothes are in the best condition. But in case you bump into clothing mishaps, you know what to do.
