Any regular and kosher holiday that you'd like to celebrate in a kosher way will require a bit of planning and preparation. Everybody knows that the Passover holiday is a time for family and friends to get together and celebrate. But it's also true that there are a lot of rules and regulations that you have to follow, as well as some special foods that you need to buy. So how do you make sure that you're following all of the Jewish laws while you enjoy the holidays? Here are some tips to help you out: Get a Kosher Cookbook
There are lots of recipes out there for kosher foods, but it can be difficult to know exactly what ingredients should go in, or whether or not the recipe is even kosher. Make things easier on yourself by getting a cookbook with lots of recipes, preferably one that has a lot of pictures so you can see what the finished product should look like. That way, you can start planning your meals ahead of time and make sure that every item is kosher before you start making it. Labeling Food If you have any questions about whether a certain dish or drink is appropriate for your guests, simply label it with a note letting them know what's inside or outside of their diet restrictions. People who aren't celebrating the holiday of whatever you're celebrating — Easter, Thanksgiving, etc. — can also benefit from this kind of labeling. It helps them know what is and isn't safe for them to eat at the party. Plan Ahead Kosher meat and poultry are usually sold frozen in most grocery stores. The meat is stored in special packaging that is labeled "Kosher." You can buy the meat several days in advance and store it in your freezer until you need it for your party. It's best if you can serve the meat hot, so don't wait until the last minute if you can help it. If you know that you'll be by yourself for Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner, start planning early. Find recipes and substitute for the non-kosher ingredients in the recipe and figure out how to make them kosher. Keep All Dishes Kosher Certified The safest way to ensure that all of the food you serve is kosher is by using kosher certified pots, pans and serving dishes. It's also important to use only kosher certified meat, poultry and dairy products in cooking and baking. If you're on kosher vacations, ask around or use an online app to locate kosher certified eateries and hotels to ensure access to kosher ingredients when you're eating out. When you’re at home, the easiest way to ensure that everything is kosher certified is by purchasing from a kosher market or deli near you as opposed to online retailers that are not fully kosher.
